I help people and brands tell stories. 

Working with organisations like The Times, Vice and Public Health England, I communicate ideas, deliver messages and provoke debate. 

I’m especially passionate about social enterprise and helping young people – as evidenced by my work with School for Social Entrepreneurs, The Times and Start Profile (formerly Plotr). 

When not writing I study wine and run a micro clothing label. In October 2019 I completed the WSET Level 3 Award, passing with Merit.

Plotr (Now Start Profile) – Content Editor, October 2012 – June 2014 

Government- and industry-backed social enterprise (CIC) with a mission to reduce youth unemployment. Sponsors included Barclays, Waitrose, McDonald's, Capgemini, Centrica, Universal and Deloitte. 

Took on a four-week contract to help deliver a new careers platform. Played an instrumental part in delivering the site on time and to brief, resulting in a permanent job offer of deputy editor, which I accepted. I was later promoted to editor. 

  • Wrote, edited and commissioned articles, blog posts and job profiles 
  • Managed, briefed and up-skilled a team of researchers 
  • Worked closely with developers (RedAnt) on site build and the integration of key concepts such as personalisation 
  • Managed relationships with site sponsors: Universal Music, Deloitte, Barclays, Waitrose, McDonald’s & Centrica

Online newspaper for fast growing SMEs and entrepreneurs launched in September 2011, co-founded by Graham Sherren (founder, Centaur Media) and Mike Bokaie (founder, Caspian Media). Now under new ownership.

Wine: I love tasting and studying wine! In November 2019 I completed the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, equivalent to an A Level, passing with Merit.

Ethical fashion: I founded Shakt+Mary in 2017 after falling in love with handloom fabrics like ikat and blockprint. As a longtime supporter of fair fashion, I run the micro scale production of ethically produced womenswear. 

Events: While living in Delhi (2015 to 2017) I co-founded Magnetic Words: a storytelling stage for India’s most progressive music festival, Magnetic Fields. Speakers included Raghu Karnad, William Dalrymple and Janice Pariat. I’ve also hosted business award ceremonies, and one other literary stage, with Adam Curtis as headline speaker. 

Volunteering: I am a volunteer visitor for Independent Age. I’ve previously volunteered for Women for Refugee Women.
